Much like with leg cramps, leg heaviness can typically be caused by the development of varicose veins or spider veins. When blood begins to pool in your legs due to vein insufficiency, it can lead to the feelings of fatigue you’re currently experiencing. Pregnant women are also at an increased risk of dealing with this condition. Pregnancy hormones are known to dilate veins and put excess pressure on the pelvis. As a result, more blood circulated through the body, putting the veins under more stress. This added stress increases the likelihood of developing heaviness in the legs.
